Chris Wallace Leaves Fox News
Chris Wallace Leaves Fox News. Chris Wallace, a longtime Fox News anchor of 18 years, just announced that he will be leaving the FOX News Network effective immediately. He announce shortly after that he would be joining the struggling CNN Network. Specifically their new CNN+, which is a streaming network which will be launching in early 2022.
Chris Wallace Leaves Fox News
“After 18 years — this is my final Fox News Sunday. It is the last time — and I say this with real sadness — we will meet like this,” Wallace said at the end of the program.
Eighteen years ago, the bosses here at Fox promised me they would never interfere with a guest I booked or a question I asked and they kept that promise. I have been free to report to the best of my ability, to cover the stories I think are important, to hold our country’s leaders to account. It’s been a great ride.
Fox News Media said in a statement, “we are extremely proud of our journalism and the stellar team that Chris Wallace was a part of for 18 years.”
Wallace was known for his even-handed but at times tough questioning of lawmakers from both parties. During his tenure at Fox, he covered five presidential elections and interviewed every president since George H.W. Bush.
Wallace was a veteran broadcast network newsman, working at both ABC and NBC News, before the late Roger Ailes lured him to Fox with the promise of his own Sunday show. Methodical and never showy — in contrast to his father Mike, the legendary “60 Minutes” reporter — Chris Wallace was known for his methodical preparation and willingness to ask hard questions of all guests.
Many said the acorn didn’t fall far from the tree, as Chris Wallace started slipping away and was becoming more liberal in his views and hostile towards Conservative guests. Everybody changes over time, some more than others, so it wasn’t totally unexpected.
Chris Wallace Was Slipping In Recent Times
Wallace went up against some of his Fox colleagues to offer skepticism of the network’s coverage of the pandemic during an appearance on Fox & Friends in which he encouraged the public to “wear the damn mask and follow the science,” which prompted on of the show’s hosts to proclaim “Oh my goodness!”
Since the science proves masks don’t protect people, and it was giving people a false sense of security, many wondered why he would help perpetuate a dangerous myth. Chris Wallace was beginning to be a tool for the left, spreading their propaganda that went against the scientific data.
